Subject: "TheÉ(eh)PC is *TOTALLY* OPPOSED
to having 20,000 'poor' volunteer students
at the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games
WORK
              FOR NOTHING! Pay them
$20 an hour."
              says É(eh)PC President/Party Leader"

FOREWORD

 3 things bother the
É(eh)PC regarding
the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games.

 (Interestingly, no other political party

  seems to be bothered.)

 1. It seems that *ALL* THE CONTRACTS
     are going to Americans.

 2. We do *NOT* KNOW into whose pockets
    the MULTIMILLION $$$ AD con-

tracts are going.

 3. Some of THE MOST CROOKED BUREAU-
CRATS - in the opinion of theÉ(eh)PC
run the Pan Am Secretariat earning PHE-
    NOMENAL SALARIES.

 IN THIS CONTEXT
OF *MASSIVE* BUREAU-
 CRATIC CORRUPTION, 20,000 "poor"
 students are expected TO WORK
 FOR NOTHING!

 WTF!

Did we fall down the rabbit hole?

 LQQking for SUCKERS!

"Ontario college and university students who
   volun
teer during the Pan Am and Parapan Am
   Games
next summer are eligible for a break
   on their OSAP
loans."

 "Training, College and Universities Minister
   Brad
Duguid announced Tuesday that his
   ministry will
spend $1.9 million to ensure
   that new, returning
and graduating post-
   secondary students aren't
financially pu-
   nished for their volunteer activities."

" 'This is a once in a lifetime opportunity,' he
     said,
'We want to make sure our students
     have the
opportunity to experience that.' "

" 'Volunteering is volunteering,' Duguid said.
    'We're
not looking to pay students to do this.' "

    24H Toronto News, Wednesday, January 15th 2014,
"Pan Am volunteers to get break on student loans", p. 4.

 ("This" being taking tickets, shuttling
   athletes, helping out wherever they're
needed: 20,000 students from the be-
ginning of July to the end of August.")

 THE BAIT: OSAP "Break"

 1. Their financial contribution to their OSAP
loan from summer work will be waived
      in their financial needs assessment.

 2. This will result - on average - in a
$2,800
      *loan* increase.

 3. New graduates will get an extra 6-month
interest reprieve on their repayment of
their OSAP loan which "normally" only
has a 6-month reprieve: this "OSAP
break" will give them a 12-month
     reprieve.

 TOTAL COST

The total cost of the "OSAP break"
 will be $1.9 million:
 PEANUTS!

 PROBLEM

For every day worked, they have to pay their transportation to
the Pan Am site ($7) and lunch ($8) costing them AT LEAST
$15 in OUT OF POCKET EXPENSES for *every* paidless
 working day.

 That adds up to

$600: 5 days a week for 8 weeks

$15x 5 days x 8 weeks = $600

On what are the students to live on during the spring+summer?

Where are they going to get this
$600?

 Panhandle - LIKE A BUM?

 Our Gov't *DOESN'T* CARE.

 THE BOTTOM LINE

 It's *NOT* WORTH ITbecause
 - they'll have to pay back the OSAP $2,800 loan increase
 - they'll be out $600 for having "the opportunity" to work
   at the Pan Am games

The Gov't appears to be treating the 20,000 students as
 a bunch of masochists!

 ABILITY TO PAY

 Our *CROOKED* FASCIST Police state
Gov't has THE *ABILITY* TO PAY  the students $20 an hour.

 After 8 weeks, they'd have
$6,400!
 ($20 an hour x 40 hours a week x 8 weeks)

 This would cost the Gov't
$128 MILLION.

 ($6,400 x 20,000)

 That's *NOT* MUCH - relatively
 speaking -
considering that the Games are costing $2.4 BILLION.

 STOOGES

For the Gov't of Ontario to *NOT* pay the 20,000 'poor' students is to
 treat them as STOOGES!

 It shows *NO* RESPECT.

 It's DESPICABLY MEAN.

 It's *NOT* RIGHT.

It's A CONTINUATION of the "abusive" FASCIST POLICE STATE POLICY
of *STICKING IT* TO THE STUDENTS!

 SLAVE LABOUR

In order to "qualify" for the "OSAP break" students  have to work
AT LEAST 12 out of a "possible" 18 shifts during the Pan Am Games
and 6 of a "possible" 8 for the Parapan Am events.

 TheÉ(eh)PCSOLUTION

These 20,000 students would be better off working as É(eh)PC
 eh-recruiters: http://eh-ok.ca/$/fun.htm.

 With the
É(eh)PC
 - the minimum wage will be
$20 an hour
 - with university+college will be
FREE
 - students taking 4 courses or more at a
   time will get
$1,200TAX-FREE monthly
 - for those living away from home in Canada,
   they'll automatically get
for 12 consecutive
   months an additional $1,200TAX-FREE
   monthly
