Subject: "Conservative Party **propaganda** article
            by the
Toronto Star undermines Canadian
            media independence" says the President,
            Party Leader of the Égalité Party of Canada

In the Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008 Metro FREE Newspaper
there appeared on page 8 an article entitled "Tories' success un-
dermines need for elections: Critics"

POLITICS

1st paragraph
===========
Prime Minister Stephen Harper has been complaining for weeks
that an obstreperous opposition is preventing his Conservative
government from moving ahead with its agenda.

QUESTIONS
==========
What agenda is the Toronto Star alluding to?

Does the Toronto Star know?

Who knew? (Ha! Ha!)

But they woN'T say.

The Toronto Star does NOT feel the need to say what the agenda
of the Conservative Party is all about.

Why?

Does ANYONE! know the agenda of the Conservative Party?

Does Mr. Harper know?

Who knows?

The Toronto Star seems to take for granted that Canadians know.

What NONSENSE!

2nd paragraph
============
In fact, his has been one of the more successful minority govern-
ments in Canadian history -- facts that undermine his argument
that a $300 million federal election is needed to give his party a
fresh mandate, critics say.

QUESTIONS
==========
What FACTS?

How does the Toronto Star define a "successful" minority govern-
ment?

Does the Toronto Star know what a successful minority govern-
ment is?

If it does, it's NOT saying.

Why?

Is this responsible reporting by a supposedly top notch Canadian
newspaper or just plain tabloid journalism?

3rd paragraph
===========
"I don't think serious analysts pay much attention to the argument
that this in [sic] a dysfunctional parliament," said Barry Kay, asso-
ciate political science professor at Wilfred Laurier University in
Waterloo.

QUESTIONS
==========
Is this current Parliament "dysfunctional" or "successful"?

Whose in doubt - nay confused - besides the Toronto Star?

Canadians are at a lost trying to figure out how Parliamentarians
can sit on their duffs in Parliament and talk about nothing im-
portant
 like the dysfunctional employment insurance program.

Parliamentarians are not dealing with the *debilitating* poverty
that sends the poor repeatedly to Hospital Emergency
and
or jail at tremendous cost to the taxpayer.

Parliamentarians are not dealing with unresolved First Peoples'
land claims.

Parliamentarians are not dealing with the customary 10+-year
wait for social housing across Canada
.

Parliamentarians are not dealing with the hiring way too may cops:
a waste of taxpayers' $$$.

Parliamentarians are not dealing with the majority of people in jail
who have no business being there because they are sick drug ad-
dicts in need of help that they are NOT! getting: MORE! WASTE
OF TAXPAYERS' $$$
.

Parliamentarians are not dealing with the meteoric growth in *un-
productive*, FASCIST POLICE STATE *placeholder* Gov't jobs
in the Police Forces, RCMP and intelligences services that are
needlessly be created just because the money has been set aside
to spend, spend, spend without rhyme nor reason without regard
for the taxpayer: MORE! WASTE OF TAXPAYERS' $$$.

Then, there's the matter of an unacceptably low minimum wage
that forces  Canadians to work often on call at percarious, *abu-
sive* jobs part-time.

There's the matter of YOUNG PEOPLE BECOMING SEX TRADE
 WORKERS due to unemployment.

There's that matter of UNREASONABLY HIGH COLLEGE, UNI-
VERSITY TUITION FEES that forces students to work while in
school in order to get by which negatively impacts on their studies.
arrow

Etc.

And the Toronto Star is suggesting that this "has been one of the
more successful minority governments in Canadian history".

Can a DO-NOTHING PARLIAMENT be considered "successful".

COME ON!

Of course NOT!

Talk about YELLOW! JOURNALISM of the worst sort.

4th paragrah
==========
Parliament can boast a legislative track record: there have been
65 bills passed by the House of Commons since the Conserva-
tives formed the government in January 2006.

QUESTIONS
==========
The legislative track record of a gov't is a reflection of how suc-
cessful it really is, is this what the Toronto Star is saying?

The more bills are churned out the more successful it is regard-
less of how relevant they are to the Canadian population
,
is that it?

Such INSIPID! THINKING is NOT only dumbfounding, it's worse,
it's beguiling which is the hallmark of ALL! propaganda.

5th paragraph
===========
"They want an election ... because the economy is going south,"
Kay said.

QUESTIONS
==========
Why is the economy taking a nose-dive?

Are the Conservatives to blame?

What have they been doing about it?

NOTHING?

Why?

TOO LAZY?

They did NOTHING SO FAR.

And will they do MORE! if REELECTED?

What are the chances of that?

last line:
TORSTAR NEWS SERVICE

The title "Tories' success undermines need for elections: Critics"
suggests that the Conservative Party should keep on doing what it
has been doing - which in the view of most Canadians is BILKING
THE TAXPAYER who is NOT! GETTING VALUE FOR HIS/HER
TAX $$$ from this DO-NOTHING PARLIAMENT.

This article *ALLUDES* TO FACTS with no supporting evidence.

If this article was given to a University professor, s/he would refuse
to even grade it..

This article in my view is a good example of TRASH JOURNALISM:
it pretended to be *factual given its byline, STAR NEWS SERVICE,
but comes across as a PROPAGANDA PIECE for the Conservative
Party

*KEY* QUESTIONS
================
Were the Toronto Star and Metro newpapers PAID! by the Conser-
vative Party of Canada to print this ad?

If so, how much were they paid?

Canadians have a right to know.
