Ashley, JUST A KID
Dr. Allister Webster, psychologist for Nova Insti-
tution (women's jail) in Truro, NS said: "We need
to consider her behavior as a result of choice as
opposed to mental illness."

"She was making very bad choices ... ."

"But he added that consistently, across the institu-
tions where Smith had been held in custody, "men-
tal health professional were in agreement this wo-
man was not psychotic," Webster told coroner's
counsel Marg Creal." Toronto Star, Tuesday,
March 5th 2013, "Smith not psychotic, inquest
hears", page A8

HOW could
Ashley Smith MAKE BAD CHOICES
when she's *ALWAYS* CONFINED to a tiny, 8' x
10', solitary cell wearing an "unrippable" security
gown, wit a steel bed, lights on all the time, and
being watched 24/7 by a video camera?

Dr. Allister Webster appears to be "intentionally"
VERY DECEITFUL as it was CLEARLY IMPOS-
SIBLE for
Ashley Smith to MAKE BAD CHOICES
as she was ALWAYS CONFINED TO A BAR-
REN SOLITARY CELL.

MAKING "BAD CHOICES" - HOW?
Dr. Allister Webster's claim that
Ashley Smith was
MAKING BAD CHOICES sounds like BULLSHIT,
no?

Dr. Webster repeats "THE SAME REFRAIN" as
everyone else who dealt with
Ashley Smith who
describe her as "a challenging inmate".
collinsdictionary.com/refrain

But LOOK at HOW BADLY they treated her.

Was her behavior was PROVOKED by THEM?

It seems the prison staff  MADE IT A SPORT A-
BUSING
Ashley Smith IN EVERY WHICH POS-
SIBLE WAY taking advantage of the fact that she
was JUST A KID, no?

Gov't BULLSHIT?
Is Dr. Webster BULLSHITTING on behalf of the
Gov't?

"Webster did an assessment of her in early No-
vember 2006 at Nova, during which time Smith
indicated to him that she had the "means and
intent to kill herself". Toronto Star, Thursday,
March 7th 2013, "There are more Ashleys:
'Comp-lex' inmate wasn't a rare case, psycho-
logist testifies", page A13

WHAT MEANS?

She only had a metal bed in her very tiny. 8'x10',
cell being watched by a video camera 24/7 forced
to wear an "unrippable" security gown.

WHAT MEANS?

Such AN UNTRUE ACCUSATION belittles THE
INHUMANITY that
Ashley Smith was forced to
endure at the hands of THE CRUEL, HEART-
LESS PRISON PERSONNEL.
dictionary.com/belittle
arrow
WHAT INTENT?

Ashley's Mother is on record at the inquest AF-
FIRMING that
Ashley *NEVER* had any intent
of killing herself AT ANY TIME because she was
a happy go-lucky girl.

Is Dr. Webster FABULATING like everyone else
who has dealt with
Ashley to MAKE HER LOOK
BAD and themselves LOOK NOT SO BAD?
dictionary.com/fabulation

IT CERTAINLY LOOKS LIKE IT, doesN'T it?

IS THAT "THE GAME" being played out at the
inquest?

TO DISPARAGE
Ashley Smith in order to JUS-
TIFY HER *INHUMANE* TREATMENT AT THE
HANDS OF THE PRISON STAFF IN ALL 17
PRISONS where she was held-up in a 8' x 10',
BARREN, solitary confinement cell over the
course of 6.4 years.
dictionary.com/disparage
lexico.comin/humane

SUCH *DEVIANT* BEHAVIOR BY A GOV'T IS
"TYPICAL" OF FASCIST Police state govern-
ments who believe ...
1. they are NOT ACCOUNTABLE
2. CANNOT BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE
3. and A PACK OF LIES will do the trick.
dictionary.com/deviant

IT DOESN'T.

Ashley's Mother at the Inquest
Coralee Smith,
Ashley's mother, "recalled how
the years of segregation appeared to diminish
her daughter."

"In a harrowing account of the last time she saw
her daughter alive, Coralee Smith described her
shock at
Ashley's appearance during a visit in the
summer of 2007."

" 'Oh Mom, my skin is all loose,"
Ashley told Smith
through the Plexiglas screen that separated them.

" 'She was not a 19-year-old girl at that point; she
was aged," an emotional Smith told an inquest jury. '
She was a lot smaller.' "

"Four guards at the Nova Institution for Women in
Truro N.S. had brought
Ashley into the interview
room, her mom recounted."

She was in handcuffs, shackles and dressed in a
security gown aimed at preventing suicides. Her
hair looked dirty.
Ashley had an injured eye ... ."
arrow
"At the end of the visit, Smith put her hand to the
screen, but
Ashley appeared reluctant." Toronto
Metro News, Friday, February 22nd 2013, "Ashley
Smith was emaciated, hurt, dirty in prison: Mother",
page 11

PHONY *Whitewashing* Inquest
Has the inquest dealt with
Ashley's *RAGGED*
CONDITION "NOT" long prior to her death: the
INJURED EYE, the DIRTY HAIR, the LOOSE
SKIN?

NO!

WHY NOT?

NOT CONCERNED?

THE INJURED EYE, DIRTY HAIR, LOOSE SKIN
seem to suggest that
Ashley was *already* MARKED
FOR DEATH.

Her death was CLEARLY - according to the É(eh)PC
- A *PREMEDITATED* CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY.

The goal of the inquest is NOT to condem the Gov't
for wrong doing, but to EXONERATE IT by white-
washing the whole
Ashley Smith affair and that's
why it's a
100% PHONY INQUEST.

Ashley's Mother's LAST WORD
"Outside court, Ms. Smith said: " ... we will never
accept that
Ashley should have been treated in
this manner." The Globe and Mail, Friday, Febru-
ary
22nd 2013, " 'My skin is all loose,' Ashley Smith
told mother in final visit", page A4

Warden: FIRED, then REHIRED
"The warden fired shortly after
Ashley Smith's 2007
death is again working with the Correctional Service
of Canada, but her position and date of hire are being
kept secret by the agency." Toronto Star, Thursday,
March 21st 2013, "Warden rehired after Ashley Smith
death in prison", page A2

By firing and then, rehiring the warden, is the Gov't
treating the whole
Ashley Smith affair as a JOKE?

"It's simply an affront for the family to learn that one
of the key players in promoting this order not to go
into (Smith's) cell until she stops breathing ... has
been brought back into the CSC fold," said Julian
Falconer, lawyer for Smith's family.

REBELLIOUS
Prison psychiatrist, Dr. Jeffrey Penn testified at
the Inquest that
Ashley Smith "was highly un-
stable, showed sadistic tendencies and was one
of the most difficult cases he had ever seen ... ."

Of course, given the NATIONAL MEDIA ATTEN-
TION this story has been getting, HE pretty much
HAS TO SAY THAT, didN'T he?

"Apparently", he once wrote: " 'This young woman
is essentially a large tyrannical child who can't to-
lerate limits, feels estranged and isolated from
peers, unloved, unliked, and often hopeless.' "
Toronto Metro News, Tuesday, March 26th 2013,
"Sadistic, tyran
nical, unstable ... : Startling testi-
mony at inquest",
page 8

Did he write this "before" OR "after" her death?

Was he "instructed" to write this?

IN ANY CASE, confined to a tiny 8' x 10' cell solitary
cell in 17 jails for 6.4 years, often handcuffed, shac-
kled, forced to wear a security gown, treated as a
"mental" case to further degrade her (Incidentally,
the inquest heard that she was *NOT* a "mental"
case.), AND *ALWAYS* BEING BADLY TREATED
BY PRISON STAFF, I - personally - think it's, IN
FACT, "QUITE NORMAL" that
Ashley should have
been REBELLIOUS.
dictionary.com/rebellious

But that does NOT necessarily mean she felt "es-
tranged and isolated from peers, unloved, unliked,
and often hopeless" given her strong relationship
with her adoptive mother.

Evidently, the psychiatrist is reading to much into
this whole affair WITHOUT THE SUPPORTING
EVIDENCE.

According to her mother
Ashley was A HAPPY,
WELL-ADJUSTED CHILD.
collinsdictionary.com/well-adjusted

LAUGHABLE!
You have to ask yourself if  Dr. Jeffrey Penn A
TOTAL QUACK?
arrow
This "psychiatrist who assessed Ashley Smith
at a prison in Nova Scotia in late 2006, bristled
Monday when it was suggested ... that he tried
to have her transferred to a psychiatric hospital
without her consent by first evaluating her over
the phone - a move that's ILLEGAL."

Correctional Service Canada staffer, Brigitte
Lavigne, in an e-mail "told other national head-
quarters staff about her 'cautioning' Penn that
he should see Smith in person, 'though it's his
licence,' she added in parenthesis." Toronto Star,
Tuesday, March 26th 2013, "Prison psychiatrist
grilled about offer to certify Smith over phone",
page A6

That's NOT CRAZY?

He doesN'T seem to take his job seriously does
he?

HOW HONEST, then, can be his assessment of
Ashley Smith?

Is his flippant assessment of
Ashley Smith to be
trusted?
dictionary.com/flippant

NOT ONE BIT!

KEPT IN SECLUSION - AS ALWAYS
For 115 days,
Ashley Smith was kept "in seclusion
her entire time ... at the Regional Psychiatric Centre
(RPC) in Saskatoon ... "on intensive psychiatric care"
(IPC): "she was kept in her room alone, with close
observation." Toronto Star, Wednesday, April 10th
2013, "MD queried about Smith's seclusion", on
page A6.

THE UNBELIEVABLY INHUMAN SOLITARY CON-
FINEMENT ISOLATION CONTINUED THERE.

It was Correctional Service Canada that encouraged
her - for her own good - to go there: so she agreed
to go: in the words of Correctional Service Canada,
she "volunteered" to go, BUT she was *NOT* TREA-
TED ANY DIFFERENTLY.

She more than likely agreed to go in the belief that
she could GET OUT of seclusion.

HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM IS THIS: "... Dr. Olajide
Adelugba, a psychiatrist and forensic specialist still at
RPC, told Smith's inquest in Toronto that there is no
formal mechanism in place at the facility for an indivi-
dual to challenge being kept on IPC status." Toronto
Star, Wednesday, April 10th 2013, "MD queried about
Smith's seclusion", on page A6

THEY - probably - LIED TO HER THAT HER SITU-
ATION THERE *WOULD* IMPROVE.
arrow
IT DIDN'T.

It was MORE OF THE *SAME*.

*ALL* THIS strongly suggests Correctional Service
Canada was out TO PSYCHOLOGICALLY *BREAK*
Ashley Smith.

BUT THEY COULDN'T!

HAIR PULLED, CURSED AT
In the Psychiatric Prison Hospital
Ashley Smith was
INHUMANLY ABUSED BY ADULTS and basically,
TREATED IN A VERY *DEMEANING* FASHION
at the Regional Psychiatric Centre (RPC) in Sas-
katoon.

REMEMBER: SHE WAS JUST A KID, A KID!

SHAME!

SHAME!

ASSAULTED!
Ashley Smith complained that "a supervising guard
had assaulted her ... ."

"... Peter Guenther, former executive-director of the
Regional Psychiatric Centre in Saskatoon, said the
incident involved a correctional supervisor, John
Tarala, in March 2007."

He told the Toronto
Ashley Smith Inquest that he
heard that
Ashley Smith claimed that she "was
grabbed, lifted off the ground by her hair and called
the "C" word ... also ... Tarala had stepped on her
head."

"In addition, the report notes a nurse who witnessed
the incident said Tarala had ordered her to falsify her
report." Toronto Metro News, Thursday, April 4th 2013,
"Prison guard pulled teen's hair, cursed at her, Smith
inquest hears" on page 20

PUNISHMENT!
Former inmate at the Vanier Centre for Women
in Milton, ON, Jeannette Tossounian, (who was
put in a segregation cell for 2 weeks charged with
misconduct for *NOT* wearing a bra and who had
AN EXTRA FIVE DAYS added to her sentence
when "another" misconduct charge was ADDED
for having said she did *NOT* want to wear a bra
even though she had already been "braless" already
for 8.5 months), says: "No matter what an inmate
does, if the institution wants to punish, they will get
punished." Toronto Metro News, Monday, November
26, 2012, "Female inmate alleges she was 'thrown
in the hole' for no bra", page 6
arrow
That assessment of Correctional Service Canada's
VINDICTIVE, *CRIMINAL* BEHAVIOR is VERY
DISTURBING BECAUSE IT'S INFLICTING PSY-
CHOLOGICAL TORTURE.

DENIED PAROLE
Correctional Service Canada alleges ...
1. that
Ashley Smith was NOT READY
1. TO LEAVE THE PRISON
2. that
Ashley Smith signed documents
1. to say just that.

This caN'T possibly BE true given what was said
at the inquest about how much
Ashley looked
forward to going home according to her Mom:
that's what they talked about "ALL THE TIME".
That's what kept
Ashley Smith SANE!

AT THE ONE-THIRD SENTENCE MARK
"Ashley Smith turned down her right to apply for
full parole in early 207, writing "not ready for re-
lease" on a waiver she signed as she neared the
one third mark of her prison sentence." Toronto
Star, Wednesday, March 27th, 2013, "Troubled
teen turned down parole chance: Prison officer
testifies she wasn't ready to go", page A8

AT THE TWO-THIRD SENTENCE MARK
"Smith was eligible for full parole in mid-February
2007 - her statutory release date at the time was
November 2007, the two-thirds point of her sen-
tence - but on the National Parole Board waiver
on Jan. 19, 2007, Smith gave up her right to a
parole review." Toronto Star, Wednesday, March
th, 2013, Troubled teen turned down parole chance:
Prison officer testifies she wasn't ready to go",
page A8

FORGED?
Was her signature FORGED?

THAT SEEMS QUITE LIKELY.

"The waiver came up Tuesday during testimony
from Rob Harris, who was
Smith's institutional
parole officer at Nova Institution, a federal prison
for women in Truro, N.S.
Smith was sent from
Nova to RPC (Regional sychiatric Centre) in
December 2006."
arrow
"The document was co-signed by Smith's parole
officer at RPC (Regional Psychiatric Centre),
and also by the head of that institution, a secure
forensic centre that is part prison, part psychiatric
facility."

"Harris testified that even if
Smith wanted to apply
for full parole, she was in no way ready for release."

"... her inappropriate behavior would affect public
safety, Harris told the inquest." Toronto Star, Wed-
nesday, March 27th, 2013, "Troubled teen turned
down parole chance: Prison officer testifies she
wasn't ready to go", page A8

The É(eh)PC Policy
NO TEENAGER WILL GO TO JAIL, but
could be treated as a psychiatric patient -
if need be.

Currently, 25% of the 55,000 inmate po-
pulation are teenagers who are *NOT* in
school: that's A TREMENDOUS LOSS
OF PRODUCTIVITY.

But it also represent A TREMENDOUS
*UNNECESSARY* COST
to the taxpayer
according to the
É(eh)PC.

At a cost of $200,000 a year to keep some-
one in jail, it costs (.25 x 55,000 x
$200,000)
$2.75 BILLION to keep teenagers in jail every
year.

NOT sending teenagers to jail translates into
A $2.75 BILLION SAVING to the taxpayer.

Ashley Smith's HEROIC Anti-FASCIST Spirit
The É(eh)PC will honour Ashley Smith,
Canada's GREATEST Anti-FASCIST
heroine
with ...
- the Ashley Smith  Anti-FASCIST Law
- the Ashley Smith Oct.19th National
- Teen Holiday
- the Ashley Smith Statue on Parliament
- Hill's Front Lawn,
- the Ashley Smith Museum across the
- street from Parliament Hill in which
- will be housed the Ashley Smith Wall
- of Shame
