Letter
to the Fulcrum
The University of
Ottawa
January 5th 2005
.
.
.
Hi Rob (Mr.
Fishbook),
I'm responding to your article "Discourse restricted" in
the
January 6-12 2005 edition of the
Fulcrum.
My
concern is that "political
discourse" is NOT! ALLOWED
**AT
ALL** in the Agora: this "blatantly" contravenes Section
3 of the Canadian Charter of
Rights and Freedoms.
As the President/Party Leader of the Égalité
Party of Canada,
strongly believe college+university campuses are
great places
for political parties
- such as mine - to
get started.
Incidentally, I called the Head of the Political Science Depart-
ment at Ottawa U. to see if she
would have the platform
of my
Party critiqued. She NOT! only refused to return my
call, but
Ottawa U. put a "call
block" on my phone number.
Talk
about RESTRICTING!
political
discourse.
What
are they "afraid" of?
New,"fresh"
ideas.
They
obviously have a stake in
believing in the "same-old,
same-old"
(FASCIST!
POLICE STATE status quo).
I
received the "same" NEGATIVE
RESPONSE from Carle-
ton U. political science faculty as well as that of
the Université
de
Québec (on the other side of the Ottawa River)
alleging
that
by having my political party platform critiqued by
their students
they'd be promoting my political party.
What
are they afraid of?
BIG BROTHER?
THE QUESTION is
this: WHY! is the University "restricting"
public
discourse?
The Government
must have made it
clear to them that it will NOT!
tolerate
ANY! NEW POLITICAL PARTY with
fresh
ideas that will
upset the apple cart.
That
is such A DANGEROUS,
TOTALITARIAN RESPONSE to
the freedom of speech that it's CHILLINGLY OFFENSIVE.
OPEN,
PUBLIC DISCOURSE IS VITAL TO DEMOCRACY+
FREEDOM:
without it, there can
only by TYRANNY!
The
whole thing reminds me of when I
was delivering my Masters
presentation on curriculum
design at Carleton U. in
November
1996 when my lingistics professor, Dr.
Janice Yalden, former
Faculty of Arts Dean and former
Head of the Department
of
Linguistics at Carleton
University, got up midway
through my
presentation+asked me to sit down because I was disagreeing
with the last 20 years of
linguistic thought regarding
multilingual-
ism when
everything I was saying was
substantiated by the latest
avant-guard linguistic research FROM OUTSIDE! NORTH AME-
RICA and I, myself, had
already studied nearly a dozen languages
at University earning TOP! MARKS making me an authority on the
subject.
Needless
to say, I walked out of
the program IN TOTAL! DISGUST,
Her response was an
UNCONTROLLED!
FASCIST! RESPONSE
that made me SICK! because it was UNWARRANTED+TOTALLY
DIGRACEFUL in a public institution of HIGHER LEARNING.
The moral of the
story is that
universities CAN+*DO* "restrict"
dis-
course
and they do so "actively": IT'S
FASCIST! MIND CONTROL.
PLUS! Ottawa U.
campus Police warned me that they'd charge me
with "trespassing on PRIVATE!
PROPERTY" if I came on
campus
and promoted my political party on the streets around the campus+
the Ottawa Police confirmed that they would lay the charges as
they
have done so in the past.
When I asked the
campus Police for
PROOF! that Ottawa U. in fact
was private property they couldN'T! produce any.
It turns out that
ALL! the
universities+colleges are
PRIVATE
IN-
STITUTIONS that are PUBLICLY FUNDED when NO ONE seems
to know who owns them.
That's NOT! baffling?
The
Attorney General's Office
who's responsible for the laying of
Police charges did NOT! know NOR! the Minitry of Education.
The
É(eh)PC intends to solve this problem by nationalizing
colleges
+universities.
(See http://eh-ok.ca/egalite.htm#nationalization.)
PLUS! the
É(eh)PC will make sure that DISCOURSE
at Canada's
institutions of higher learning is NOT!
RESTRICTED.
Regards,
Kenneth
